The staging area had plywood just lying there for several months. Today splice plates were installed. One board was 1×6 fir and cracked when a screw was inserted, so screws were put in from the splice up thru the bottom of that board (which leads to a future mining area.) I had that board available and didn’t want to run to Lowe’s. More supports were needed in the corner and room left for staging access at the deepest part of the layout.
Plywood was cut where needed and everything is now fastened down. The entire staging yard will have access from the front of the layout. Originally it was going to be covered up, but I came to my senses. All switches are built for the west end of the yard and ready to be installed. This includes two 3-way switches built with Fast Track jigs. Even with jigs they were a challenge.
