Labeling Locations

Labels really add to the enjoyment of visiting operators and even regular ones.  I worked on drawing a schematic to place in 4 locations on the valence of the 45′ long Gerber Yard.  Previously I used Publisher, so I “just” modified the files.  I printed them out on glossy 13″x19″ photo paper.  There were two on each sheet and then they were cut apart.  Who would have guessed it would take about 9 hours.

That time included making labels for all the switch locations in Gerber and Proberta.  After experimenting it was decided to use a 14-point Arial bold type.  They were made on a Brother P-Touch using 1/2″ tape.  Yellow labels were used to indicate crossovers, and they are identified by a yellow LED when thrown.  Half the labels have been applied so far.

A laser level was used to make them level.  The close-up is distorted.  They really are level.
